The state of Texas is home to a fairground that’s known as the “City of Stars and Stripes,” and the state has some of the most extensive fairground infrastructure in the nation.
And in the midst of the Texas wildfires, the fairgrounds were in the spotlight again this week when a group of people vandalized them.
The damage to the fairground, which was scheduled to open for business on June 14, caused the fair’s owner, the Fairmount Entertainment Group, to call for the fair to be closed until further notice.
“We’re just really concerned about our employees and their safety,” Fairmount CEO John Rinaldi told Ars.
“There are a lot of people who want to go to the Fair, and they’re afraid to go there.”
